Nomadic artists carried the great myths
& legends of world culture throughout
Scotland & internationally.
Without travelling and sharing these stories, the oral tradition that preserved folk tales would not be what it is today, so the role of wandering storytellers, minstrels, explorers and pilgrims is showcased with Festival on Tour.
Coordinated by regional storytelling teams with the support of SISF, the Festival’s guest storytellers meet with local performers and audiences, offering a fantastic opportunity to experience in-situ storytelling across the country.
Festival on Tour highlights the close links stories have with local tradition, landscape and history, plus there are several regional mini-festivals around the country, including Orkney Storytelling Festival, Portskerra International Storytelling Festival and Inverness Storytelling Festival.
2018’s Guest Storytellers will visit Orkney, Sutherland, Findhorn, Caithness, Aberdeen, Inverness, Argyll & Bute, Perthshire, Dundee, Fife, Alloa, Ayr, Dumfriesshire, Glasgow and Duns to meet with local performers and audiences.
