Our Spaces

The Scottish Storytelling Centre and John Knox House have lots of unique spaces where you can host your own event. We’ve had parties, conferences, workshops, arts events, wine tastings and even small weddings taking place in our venue.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the Centre and there is a lift providing full access to all floors of the building, with the exception of the upper floors of John Knox House.

Netherbow Theatre

Perfect for small-scale theatre and music productions, literary events, presentations, seminars and conferences.

Fixed raked seating, high specification lighting, projection & amplification, fitted with an infrared hearing loop system.

The acoustics in the theatre are truly fantastic – even the smallest whisper is heard right at the back. What makes this space extra special is the large window hiding behind the blackout blind that opens out into the garden.

150 people standing or 60 seated theatre or cabaret style

Storytelling Court

A fantastic place to host drinks receptions, ceilidhs & exhibitions. It is a beautiful light and bright space overlooking the historic gardens of the Netherbow, as well as the Storywall which encases traditional tales for guests to discover.

Storytelling Bothy

Our Storywall pulls out to create an intimate, partially enclosed space within the Storytelling Court which is ideal for informal sessions.

George Mackay Brown Library

A great space for seminars, workshops & meetings.

It also has a breakout space which is ideal for refreshments and there is a wealth of storytelling books and resources available to borrow and browse for inspiration.

Trad Arts Hive

A great space for seminars, workshops & meetings.

Located on the top floor with windows on either side of the room letting in lots of natural light.

John Knox House

A-listed building dating back to 1470 which houses an exhibition exploring the Scottish Reformation.

A very unique and historic setting for small-scale events, such a wine-tastings or intimate wedding blessings. A guided tour of the house can also be arranged as part of your event.
